Example of business models:
How is this relevant to the I.A?
Here in the Innovation Academy, we are empowered because we have autonomy, passion and a drive. To a certain extent we have to follow up some standards but for the most part we given some freedom in our projects, especially independent project. For example in our documentary there are some deadlines and tasks we have to complete but it's up to us how we want to do out film or even the topic we want to explore about economics. Bottom line, we are doing things that are relevant to us and have value. We work hard and produce outstanding work because we like to be successful and the cool thing is that we are getting marked on things we are passionate about and have value.
For the independent project we are free to choose something we want to so for me, since I’m fascinated by the sport of swimming, I must try to do something upon this. For me it might be an amazing video of myself swimming, or for people who love to write they can create a short-book. However it's crucial to take into account that for every project, you must follow steps in order to make sure that there is value, purpose, audience and that you have a clear outcome.
For my documentary, here is what I answered for the Business Model.
1. WHAT:
Mention your idea, what is it that you want to do?
- In my documentary, I am guided by, “How does the lack of financial literacy affect a Peruvian customer? Because of this, I am focusing on finding the impact that Peruvians with insufficient financial literacy being negatively affected interest rates, credit cards and loans. I am planning on interviewing professionals, civilians, teachers, parents and students in order to obtain the necessary information to build up a 15 – 20 minute film answering my key question.
2. WHO:
The customer, who are you targeting with your product/project? Ex. Teenagers, Adults, Kids, Parents.
- Since my documentary is facing huge problem all around Peru, my targeted audience is mainly adults and parents. This is because they are much more exposed to the buying and selling of a product. Also, they are around the use of money much more than younger people.
3. WHY:
The value of what you’re doing; how valuable is this to you? Is it worth doing? Why are you starting this project?
- I feel that up until now, I have seen the poorest and the richest aspects of Peru. I have been a friend with both classes that is something that not everyone is experiencing now a day. However, I value this project a lot because no matter how exposed I am to the higher-class society in Peru, I want to help the lower classes because I feel connected to them. I feel that I have to inform them about this catastrophe.
4. HOW:
The organization, how are you going to organize your due dates? If you’re planning on beginning a project, start by planning out your steps.
- The final due date of this project is May 8th. In order for me to complete my documentary until that final date, I must plan my work out. I have already been following my calendar. I have had one very important interview with a professional and have interviewed more than 10 people at low class shopping malls. On Monday (21), Augusto and I are going to Jockey Plaza to interview people there. We must plan out to show both sides of the story. We are planning to start building up the documentary on Monday (21) together in order to see what we are missing and what we must include as well.
Now, since I have answered all the questions with confidence, I now that deep down I am wanting to do this not for the grade, nor to impress universities, but because I believe in this and I want to make a change for it.
Be sure that for every type of project you are working you answer these key words. It might take a few minutes but might impact your project in a lifetime path!
