In general terms, the word "we" comes from the German term "wir" that meant a party of two or more. However, I am talking about we as a group--the IA cohort to be more concise. Now, by growing I mean how we changing for the good? What key habits are we building that will ensure us a conformable success outside of school? I have came up with three comparisons that have stood out the most, check them out.
Doing vs. imagining the probability
Have you ever heard someone say "It would be so cool if we had millions of dollars, we could do whatever we wanted?" That is exactly what I am talking about, taking risks is all part of life. Failure should be your friend, and so should be succeeding. I feel we are learning to do it, that simply imagine the "what if's...". For example, we are creating advertisement campaigns that we have absolutely no idea for sure that it would succeed, yet we know it now because of the fame it has brought us. We certainly did not imagine how far Blendz has come, and simply because of a pitched idea. The budget, materials, and people to work on the project will come next, first you must get of your bed and try to make it happen. Make your idea become a reality, not another imagination.
Planning vs. Procrastinating
Although we have struggled tremendously with this thought the year, we have definitely become stronger as a team. We are planning our days--schedules, agendas and personal reminders-- it's all that we needed to succeed. Many people talking about being disorganized can be very fun, specially when you don't know where you are pointing at as a target goal. Professionals might agree, yet the IA would disagree. We have learned to grow by planning moments for what we are doing. In many cases we do change our schedule, because we are passionate for what we are doing, and feel we can achieve greatness by pushing forward. Spending some time before your week begins -- Sunday, possibly -- and reflecting upon what you want to get done will clear your mind out, and will also let you think at what time you are going to work towards your goal for the week.
Blending vs. Separating
I know what you might be thinking, and no, it is not only about the IA. This segment is especially important for me because I feel that the IA is blending more with the community than it has ever done. In most cases, we feel we where separating from our classmates last semester because we were so busy with our work. Now, we are speaking with them daily and selling them our delicious products. Also, now we are not seen as the IA kids, we are seen as a normal group of students that simply took another path. Having that acceptance I feel it has given us much more comfort and support within one another. It was tiring to listen to other people talking about IA when they hadn't experienced it. Now, I see people from the community wanting to apply, people wo want to do relevant work that that it's more important than grades.
It has definitely been a twist of what a regular blog would be; however, I felt the importance of speaking about this because I am feeling connection between the school and the IA everyday, bigger and bigger. We have come a long way since Augusto 2013, now, November 2014, we have accomplished a solid, and worth wild IA group.
