It’s almost the end of the year and there’s I lot I’ve learned from myself, especially what I am not able to do, yet.
On Thursday, us innovators spent all day doing straight talks. This consists on all agreeing upon someone’s grades. We give him feedback, talk about his strengths, weaknesses and possible improvements. It is a mixture of stress, trust and most importantly honesty. I deeply enjoy the word honesty because it creates a culture of neither people that are not afraid to say what they feel nor people who keep things to themselves. However, today, I want to spend some time talking about what I’ve recapped about my progress. Note: I am only going to speak about what I can improve, because I don’t feel sharing my strengths will make me reflect upon anything.
Attention to detail:
This might happen to some of us. In many cases, when I write, or read, I tend to miss out on some parts of what I am reading, or writing. Especially when writing, I tend to leave words out or spell words incorrectly and never figure it out.
Many of my peers suggested that I needed to spend some time reading over my work in order to find those small holes in my writing. It is complicated some times, I know, yet it is rewarding to know that your reader, in this case you, sees no flaws on your work. It is always a better image.
Now, when reading. I sometimes tend to rush though what I am reading and leave some words out. Weird, huh? Well yeah, it is. Moreover, the clear solution for this is reading somewhat slower. This will make me see better what I am reading. Pacing myself is key when reading, and I’m probably not the only victim of this small problem. By this, my oral speaking skill will improve as well because of the continues practice.
Sharing my work:
For the past three months, I’ve been the eyes and ears of the Blendz customers. In other shorter terms, I am the customer analytic. This job requires a deep analysis of the customers, their desires, their needs; there feeling towards our products and expectations as well. By this, I have obtained data from over 60% of our customers yet I have kept it to myself, partly. This is because, in a sense, it is not used often here at Blendz. I know, I know. This is because of me. It is my fault and that is exactly the reason why I put “sharing my work” as a highlight/weakness of mine. With the use of all my data, statistics and possible thoughts on how Blendz can grow, we are simply opening another door to take Blendz to another step.
And as always, thanks for reading.
