OK, yes, I am going to try this 30 Day Challenge to push myself to do more, than only swimming. I have set myself a task that will enrich my vocabulary and improve my performance at school. Not only this, but it will create a positive habit that I have been wanting to do for a long time now. The two habits I want to develop and work on for 30 days are the following:
1. read a great deal of books.
Why? Because ever since I stopped swimming, for sometime, due to my injury near my eye, I've spend long hours outside of the water and because I got so tiered of my phone and homework I begun to discover a world inside the books. I am very used to waking up, going to school, eating lunch, going swimming and doing my homework. My life revolved around school, eating, sleeping, swimming and homework. Once I stopped swimming I got to my house and I had more time to do these things, however, I finished early or I got board fast because I had plenty of time. Moreover I begun to play video games and use my phone in this additional time. Nonetheless this activities, video game and phone, didn't last very long. I got bored. So this is how I have grown an passion towards reading. I enjoyed Naked Economics and this is how I started reading more books like this that interested me a ton. However, school got compacted and I had no time to keep up with a book.
Now that I have a free month, practically, I've decided to take on this challenge and read a book for 30 days. By doing so I will be developing a habit and when I cart school it will be much easier to keep up with it since it will be part of my routine. Two of my areas of interest are science and business. Since I haven't been doing a science class for a long I thought it might be a good idea to take on this challenge and read a science book. I have currently chosen a book about cognitive science, Mr. Topf introduced me to this and I've been wanting more about it since the,. Moreover, I have read a vast amount of articles online related to the topic, and I have recently ordered a book called "Cognitive Science: An Introduction to the Science of the Mind" written by José Luis Bermúdez. My goal is to finish the book in 30 days and explore more about cognitive science. I will be sharing my thought through twitter and blog.
2. Be constant with my blogging and articles.
One of my biggest issues is procrastination. Because I procrastinate a lot and leave things to the end I forget to do them. This is why before entering a new school year I want to take on this challenge and develop a habit in which I am constant with my work. This month I will be constant with my blogs and articles. If I push myself to learn this skill and make it a habit, when I go back it will be much easier to be on top of things. What I mean by beign consistent is by doing one blog every week and not leaving it for the next week or the week before school starts, and also by turning my article on my day, every two weeks, to my editor. By working at this, I'll be able to come back to school with a much stronger skill that will bring me benefits with my school work.
Stop sleeping around and eating your summer vacation because it only takes you 30 days to develop a new habit. Come up with something you will be proud off and challenge yourself.
