Today was our first day of Pre- Innovation Academy. It was designed by Mr. Topf in order make our selves more comfortable being in-group and also to let us meet each other in a distinct way. The day began by meeting in school at 7:30am in order to leave school at 8am sharp. We then took a ten-minute drive to El Pentagonito. El Pentagonito is the ministry of defense used to train and at the same time educate the soldiers. The race we were all signed up for was a 5k (a whole lap around El Pentagonito). It was designs to give aid to people with Down syndrome. Down syndrome is a rare disease in Lima, however that is a big part of Peruvians that do suffer from it and what better way to help them by getting fit. The race began at around 9:15 and ended at about 9:35 for me. I personally am not a runner, I prefer swimming but I loved running and seeing all the support that people give you when you seem tired, when you think you can not keep up. Personally I was very touched when I stopped for one second to take a breath and someone I don’t know told me to keep up, and do not stop until the end. Small things like that made my day brighter and my race better. After completing the first activity, we then moved on to Larcomar. Larcomar is one of the best placed in Lima for tourists to visit because of its beautiful view of the ocean and it’s variety of things that you may do in Larcomar. In Larcomar we rented some bicycles for a short but tiring trip. We took a 15-20 min trip threw the border of the “La Costa Verde” its amazing view made me feel alive and its cold but happy weather made that trip unforgettable. I must say I really enjoy those physical activities that we do, it is my favorite part, it is like P.E but all the time. After those 15-20min trip we stopped at the Museum of MAC. MAC Museum displays distinct artist works from different countries, personally I was very touched by the amazing pictures Scarlett Hooft Graafland took in Bolivia. The use of colors was simply amazing. At the end of the Museum tour we headed back to Larcomar to return the bicycles and head towards Mamacona. Mamacona, located around Km 42 is owned by one of my classmates Stephano Heredia. Stephano has a house there, which has horses, commonly used for big events such as concerts and even horse races. There we where able to ride the horses and have some fun, we took many pictured and we learned a lot about its history and how Mamacona was originally used and what was its purpose. After all the three activities where completed I found some time to reflect and think about the Innovation Academy. I though to my self, it is always important to think not only from you perspective but from every type of perspective as well. In the 5k we did, think about how the kids with Down syndrome felt, or even when we where in the museum of MAC, think about how the guild felt when someone was not listening. Small things like this will help me in my future and I am sure it will to everyone. Business is not only about what you benefit about it, but what others take from what you work on and most importantly what people think about what you do.
